2014 Community Fund Grants OPEN!

Email Scam Alert

For immediate release – January 8, 2014    Thanks to United Way Canada for alerting us to a false email that could show up in your inbox. It appears as if the email is from United Way Worldwide CEO Brian Gallagher's email account, with requests for help from people in throughout the world, including Canada. Stuff-A-Sock Deliveries to start Monday

Thank you to each and every family, office, girl's night out and individual that made a contribution to our Stuff-A-Sock campaign!  This year we have received over 1,400 requests from organizations from Stephenville, Gander, Grand-Falls Windsor, Marystown, Corner Brook, Bell Island & St. John's.   As of yesterday's contribution deadline, we have received almost 600 stuffed socks, stockings and gift bags.   Thank you as well to the Ice Caps Foundation and BMO for their significant financial contribution, these funds will be used to purchase the items needed to fulfill [...]

Stuff-a-Sock Deadline is TODAY!!!!

The deadline for Stuffed 'Socks' and Sock-drive items, is fast approaching! Please be sure to drop your 'socks' at United Way, located at 39 Pippy Place (The Ultramar Building) on, or before Thursday, December 5th. Our office hours are 8:30-4:30, Monday through Friday. Community Fund Distribution Event Awards $650,000 to 50 Charities province-wide!

Today we proudly distributed $650,000 to 50 deserving charities across the province, at our annual Community Fund Distribution Event. Charities receiving grant funding today, submitted applications during our call for proposals back in January of 2013. Each proposal received was reviewed by our Community Investment Committee, Chaired by RNC Inspector Jason Sheppard, and from there the grants were determined. United Way's 5th Annual Stuff-a-Sock Campaign!

It's that time of year again, and we're happy to announce our Annual Stuff-a-Sock Campaign has just launched! For the past 5 years, United Way has teamed up with charities and workplaces across the province to coordinate its annual Stuff-a-Sock Campaign. Parfait Day at CRA!

Today, the employees of Canada Revenue Agency held a "Parfait Day" to support the annual Government of Canada Workplace Charitable Campaign (GCWCC).    Employees gathered bright and early to put together the healthy breakfast parfaits of yoghurt, granola and fruit, then made the rounds selling to their colleagues.  All funds raised from this event supports GCWCC co-recipients United Way and HealthPartners.   In Newfoundland & Labrador over 23 federal government departments particpated in GCWCC in 2012, raising almost $200,000 to support a number of charities including [...]

Leadership Donor Breakfast and Thank You

Each year there are a number of United Way donors that we call "Leaders of the Way". WorleyParsons employees give the gift of TIME

Life in Summerford and area wasn’t exactly exciting – until the Community Youth Network opened its doors.  Katie and her friends were just happy to have somewhere to go instead of just hanging out at home. Today, a team of leaders from Target St. John’s, volunteered with the Single Parents Association of Newfoundland, to stuff backpacks for its annual ‘Back to School Project’. The partnership, organized through United Way of Newfoundland and Labrador as a Day of Caring©, saw the Target team stuff 250 backpacks for distribution.   For single parent families, back to school places an additional financial burden on already stretched budgets.
