Young Adult Cancer Canada



RealTime Cancer is committed to building an independent and sustainable cancer support group that provides hope, understanding and inspiration to young adults by delivering key positive messages and sharing personal experiences of the challenges and triumphs of cancer by those who have been where they are.

Program: RealTime Cancer Public Education Program $5,000 (2006): Funding from United Way was used to fund the first phase of development of classroom resources to complement full school presentations about life challenges as well as preventing and dealing with cancer.

Program: RealTime Cancer Challenge School Program $5,000 (2005): This is the organization's public education program that targets young adults and informs them about key cancer prevention methods, dealing with cancer in their lives, and dealing with everyday challenges with a positive attitude.

Funding from United Way was used to fund the delivery of the 2005-2006 public education program to schools on the Avalon Peninsula. It helped to subsidize the employment costs and travel associated with running the program, the promotional tools used in the presentations and other associated costs.

Program: RTC Portal  $1,500 (2005): This is an online support community for young people facing cancer challenges.
