Operation Sunshine

The Operation Sunshine Literacy Program is a program designed by Operation Sunshine Inc. to assist developmentally delayed adults in gaining the skills necessary to maintain a good quality of life in the community. The purpose of this program is to establish concrete concepts allowing these individuals to integrate easily into the community, such as acquiring the skills to find and maintain employment.

Program: Literacy and Hope for Tomorrow $2,000 (2010): The Literacy and Hope for Tomorrow programs helped 10 developmentally delayed young adults increase their literacy levels and also gave them an opportunity to engage in activities such as crafts and outings in the community and St. John's area. Through these outings they had a chance to learn skills that will assist them with integration while expanding their potential in society.
Funding from United Way was used to purchase books, sewing and craft materials and also supported outing related expenses such as buses, ferry costs, bowling and movies.
