Marguerite's Place



The St. John's Women's Centre/Marguertie's Place offers affordable, fully accessible programming and supportive housing in a women-centered environment. The Woman's centre seeks to support and empower women towards long term change.The Centre has been offering programming as well as support to women in the community since 1972.

Program: Community Outreach Program $35,000 (2011): This program provides outreach services to women in St. John's and rural areas of Eastern Newfoundland. All of the on site programs are delivered through an accessible lens and in turn will be more inclusive and eliminate barriers whick prevent women with disabilities from accessing resources and services.
Funding from United Way was used enchance the Outreach Program by having accessible components added for women with a wide array of complex needs.

Program: Marguerite's Place Capital Campaign $12,500 (2010): This project was intended to construct a new facility which enabled the centre to expand the services and supports offered to women and their children in our community, including a continuum of housing supports and services available on site.
Funding from United Way was used s a capital contribution toward the building of the Women's Centre component of Marguerite's Place, specifically for the "Women's Communal Kitchen".

Program: Marguerite's Place Capital Campaign $25,000 (2009): This project was intended to construct a new facility which enabled the centre to expand the services and supports offered to women and their children in our community, including a continuum of housing supports and services available on site.
Funding from United Way was used as a capital contribution toward the building of the Women's Centre component of Marguerite's Place, specifically for the construction and equipping  of a Resource Centre.
